Autumn Attractions with Cardiff Bus

What better way is there to spend a crisp autumn day than by exploring the beautiful areas in and around Cardiff? Well, with Cardiff Bus you can! This article is going to tell you all about places that you can visit and how to get there.

If you’re travelling with friends, don’t forget our group ticket is available for £10 and can be used by up to 5 people all day in the Cardiff fare zone including all the locations below.

1. Alexandra Park

Pop down to Penarth and wander through Alexandra Park to stretch your legs over the weekend. Not only does it have gorgeous greenery and beautiful botanicals, but you can also walk through Alexandra Park to reach the Penarth Pier overlooking the Bristol Channel! Hop on a Cardiff Bus, travelling on routes 7, 92, 92B, 93 and 94 to Penarth and enjoy both nature and the seaside in one!

2. Bute Park

In the heart of Cardiff, you will find the beautiful Bute Park! Located behind Cardiff Castle and a short walk from the city centre, you can experience escapism of busy city life while not being too far away from all the action. Bute Park has a breath-taking tree collection that fills the park with alluring autumn colours. You can even grab a hot drink to warm up at one of the three cafes that can be found around the park. Experience the ‘green heart’ of Cardiff for yourself and head down to Bute Park on routes to the city centre.

3. Cosmeston Park

Head over to Cosmeston Park on route 94 and wander through over 100 hectares of land and see a wide range of rare plant variations and animal species. As well as these interesting attractions, Cosmeston Park also welcomes dogs, so you and your furry friends can enjoy this park together! If you’re looking for somewhere to take your little ones, Cosmeston Park has an adventure playground to keep them entertained. There are also multiple picnic areas where you can refuel after a day of fun.

4. Llandaff Meadows 

The luscious Llandaff Meadows can be found between Llandaff Cathedral and the River Taff and is a great place to visit to get out of the city and see somewhere new! Enjoy the open space and glorious greenery in Llandaff Meadows or take a walk along the river and make the most of the fresh autumn air. Travel on routes 24, 25, 62, 63, 64 or 66 and wander through Llandaff Meadows until your hearts content!

5. Roath Park

Everybody knows it, and everybody loves it, of course we’re talking about Roath Park! As one of the first public parks in Cardiff, Roath Park has been a popular spot for many over the years. With attractions such as the lake, lighthouse and pleasure gardens, Roath Park is the perfect place to spend an autumn afternoon. Come on board routes 28, 28A and 28B for a sunny stroll around Roath Park.

6. Taff Trail 

Follow the Taff Trail for 55 miles between Cardiff and Brecon for a rural retreat from city life. Along the way you will encounter different natural spectacles such as riverside paths and forest roads as well as man-made railway paths. This is a great route to walk through and there are plenty of places for you to stop for a picnic! You can join the Taff Trail at various points in Cardiff, such as Cardiff Bay and the city centre. Hop on routes to the city centre and join at Bute Park.

7. Tredegar Park 

Take a trip to Tredegar Park this autumn! Explore the gorgeous green fields and enjoy the fresh air over 90 acres of land. Why not see what’s on at Tredegar House? With activities ranging from harvest trails, to farm tours and craft workshops, there is something for everyone to do in Tredegar Park! You can get there on route 30.

8. Victoria Park

Venture to Victoria Park in the west of Cardiff on routes 1, 2, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18, 32, 61, 64, 96 or 96A for sensational scenery! This colourful park can be found in the heart of Canton and is filled with trees, flowers, and nature but that’s not all! Visit the cast iron bandstand from 1897 and say hello to the Billy the Seal sculpture as you roam through Victoria Park this autumn.
