Here is a list of things you can do in Cardiff over Summer...  

Hop on board out Skycar

The Skycar route begins at the National Museum Cardiff and travels through Cathays Park, into the city centre, passing notable landmarks such as Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium, then down to Cardiff Bay, stopping at the Wales Millennium Centre by Roald Dahl Plass. The service operates hourly throughout the day, with the Baycar also running every 30 minutes providing extra journeys and an evening service - all included within the price of your Skycar day ticket!

Explore Cardiff Castle

It’s one of Wales’s most iconic landmarks, combining Roman, Norman, and Victorian history. You can climb the Norman keep, wander the lavish interiors, and picnic on the grounds.

Stroll Around Bute Park

This huge park right in the city centre is perfect for summer walks, cycling, or relaxing by the river. It’s peaceful and full of wildlife and hidden sculptures.

Visit Cardiff Bay

The redeveloped waterfront has restaurants, shops, and attractions like the Wales Millennium Centre. Take a boat trip or enjoy an ice cream overlooking the water.

Take a Day Trip to Penarth Pier

Just outside Cardiff, this charming Victorian pier and seafront is ideal for sunny days. There’s a pebble beach, cafés, and lovely views across the Bristol Channel.

Walk or Cycle the Taff Trail

A scenic 55-mile route that starts in Cardiff Bay and winds north through parks and valleys. Even doing a short stretch is a refreshing way to see the city.

Visit St Fagans National Museum of History

This open-air museum lets you explore Welsh history in reconstructed buildings from across the centuries. It’s free and especially lovely on a sunny day.

Enjoy Roath Park

Everybody knows it, and everybody loves it, of course we’re talking about Roath Park! As one of the first public parks in Cardiff, Roath Park has been a popular spot for many over the years. With attractions such as the lake, lighthouse and pleasure gardens, Roath Park is the perfect place to spend an autumn afternoon.

Cosmeston Park

Head over to Cosmeston Park on route 94 and wander through over 100 hectares of land and see a wide range of rare plant variations and animal species. As well as these interesting attractions, Cosmeston Park also welcomes dogs, so you and your furry friends can enjoy this park together! If you’re looking for somewhere to take your little ones, Cosmeston Park has an adventure playground to keep them entertained. There are also multiple picnic areas where you can refuel after a day of fun.

 Alexandra Park

Pop down to Penarth and wander through Alexandra Park to stretch your legs over the weekend. Not only does it have gorgeous greenery and beautiful botanicals, but you can also walk through Alexandra Park to reach the Penarth Pier overlooking the Bristol Channel! Hop on a Cardiff Bus to Penarth and enjoy both nature and the seaside in one!

Victoria Park

Venture to Victoria Park in the west of Cardiff on routes for sensational scenery! This colourful park can be found in the heart of Canton and is filled with trees, flowers, and nature but that’s not all! Visit the cast iron bandstand from 1897 and say hello to the Billy the Seal sculpture as you roam through Victoria Park this autumn.
