Half Term is fast approaching! Whether you have been counting down the days until your well-deserved week off from school or you’re wondering how you’re going to entertain your children all week, Cardiff Bus is here for you. With 59 operating routes, you’ll certainly find somewhere to go by bus! This article will tell you all you need to know about Cardiff Bus routes, where you can travel and more. Cardiff Bus Routes

We have routes operating throughout Cardiff as well as in Barry and Penarth, so you won’t run out of places to see and things to do.

Value for Money

We understand that travelling as a family or big group can get expensive so, here at Cardiff Bus we have some fantastic fares that will ensure you are getting value for money out of your journeys with us!

With our Family Travel Tickets you can travel with one adult with up to four children/young persons or as two adults with up to three children/young persons. The maximum number of adults travelling using a Family Travel Ticket is two, and a child/young person must be travelling at all times when using the ticket.

Who is classed as a child?

Our children’s fares are for those between 5 and 15 years old.  Children aged 4 or under travel for free and are exempt from family tickets.

Who is classed as young persons?

To avoid confusion when traveling, young persons are those aged between 16 – 21 and have a My Travel Pass.  The pass must be presented to the driver at the beginning of each journey.

Where can I purchase a Family Travel Ticket?

Family Travel Tickets are convenient and cost effective, making travelling in and around Cardiff as a family much easier! Tickets can be purchase from the driver when boarding or through our mobile app before your journey. Information regarding how to use our mobile app can be found in the App User Guide section of our website.

Family Travel Ticket Fares

On the weekends and during school holidays, you’ll be happy to know that the fares for Family Travel Tickets are reduced (which is even more of a reason to travel with these tickets!). They are:

In Cardiff and Penarth fare zones - £5.50

In Cardiff and Barry fare zones - £8

In the Barry fare zone - £4.70

Cardiff City Centre

At this heart of Cardiff is of course the lively City Centre with endless amounts of activities. 48 of our 59 routes go to and via the City Centre, so wherever you’re travelling from you will have easy access to this prime location in Cardiff.

Penarth

Fancy a breath of fresh sea air or a leisurely stroll around gorgeous greenery? Head down to Penarth on services 7, 92, 93 or 94 and walk through Alexandra Park right down to Penarth Pier and get the best of both worlds!
