Cardiff Half Marathon - October 2025

3 days ago Mon 8th Sep 2025

The Cardiff Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 5th October, and as a result, many roads within Cardiff and Penarth will close to traffic.

Bus Times for Runners & Spectators

We’ve got bus services running right across the city and into the Vale of Glamorgan—perfect for getting you to the race and helping spectators make the most of the action as it goes by.

Service 6 takes you straight to Cardiff Bay, where you can head to Roald Dahl Plass and watch runners pass the iconic Wales Millennium Centre. You’ll also find plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants to enjoy while you’re there.

Service 28 stops at Rhydypenau Crossroads, just a short walk from the leafy surroundings of Roath Park. It’s a great spot to see runners looping the lake—or to pause for lunch, a coffee, or even a pint at one of the local pubs and cafés.

For those who fancy a stroll, service 52 follows the edge of the race route. It’s ideal if you’d like to walk through Pen-Y-Lan to catch the race along lively Albany Road or by Roath Park. Just keep in mind that, due to road closures, you’ll need to pick it up from Newport Road rather than the city centre during the event.

Travel Advice

Due to the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon, a number of roads will be closed on Sunday 5th October.

This will cause diversions to several services, and most buses will be unable to use their usual stops in the city centre. Our website and app have updated timetables and journey planners showing all diversions and temporary bus stops.

The details below outline the diversions during the race. However, please be aware that additional road closures in the city centre, required for event facilities before the race begins, mean services will not be able to use Upper Westgate Street or Castle Street. Further diversions will therefore apply.

Please note that all times listed are approximate and may change on the day, as road closures and reopenings are outside of our control. For clarity, we have used well-known road names in the diversion details. To confirm which exact stops each route will serve, please refer to the timetable pages on our website or app.
